JusticeWorks FRS responding to President & CEO Dan Heit’s Labor Day Address to the Company.

Thank you very much for your heart and leadership.  I recently had the privilege to work with a young teen who recently attempted suicide that came into our care.   The young man survived his attempt at suicide after jumping off a 150-foot bridge.  It is miraculous that he even survived.

It is often said that a person can live three minutes without oxygen, three days without water, and three weeks without food.  However, I believe there is one thing that you can’t let one second go by without….that is HOPE.

I had the privileged to work with this young man and breath hope into his life.  I recently heard from the family, and they felt compelled to reach out to me and tell me about his first day back to school. “He had a great first day back to school and said, in his words, it was 1000 times better than I thought it would be.  We want to say thank you again for sharing your stories and virtues with him (and us). You truly make a difference.”

Your agency has allowed and offered a platform of HOPE to occur and to breathe life into this young man’s life.   I was able to meet him in his brokenness and cared enough not to leave him there, “doing whatever it takes.”

Thank you for this opportunity and forum to help people help themselves to become better and not bitter.

Respectfully,
Eric Ray, FRS
