A York County Teen Succeeds Against the Odds with Help from a Special Family Resource Specialist!
Family Resource Specialist (FRS), Tiffany Nulph, of York County embarked on a two-year journey when assigned to work on a youth referral to assist *Debra in achieving her academic goals, securing a permanent home, and ultimately system discharge. The journey has not been easy as there were roadblocks along the way. As with many children in the child welfare and/or juvenile justice systems, Debra had been placed in various foster care homes due to her mother’s inability to care for her, and her father’s incarceration. Compass Cup: A Lesson in School Pride, Teamwork, and Fun at Compass Academy!
Compass Academy Mt. Carmel made the trek to Williamsport on Thursday, December 9th to duel Compass Academy Lycoming in the Second Annual Compass Cup. The Compass Cup is a competitive contest between the two sister schools. The Compass Cup was held at the Williamsport YMCA with three teams participating - Compass Mt. Carmel, Compass Lycoming Underdogs (grades 7-10) and Compass Lycoming Big Dawgs (grades 10-12). JWYC Compass Academy, Lycoming Branch, received an invitation to participate in some friendly competition with area high school basketball teams. Our Compass Academy kids showed true team spirit in the season opener, playing Grace Prep. We were two points from winning! It was such an exciting game!
