Sarah Uncapher, Administrative Assistant/Case Aide-SWAN

Sarah grew up in Blairsville, PA, and credits her parents with demonstrating and instilling the value of helping others to her. “I always had a desire to have a career in a helping field.”
Sarah chose social work as a way to support those in need. This led earning a B.A. in Social Work from Gannon University in Erie, PA. Sarah began her career in the Warren County CYS as a Foster/Adoption Caseworker. She then worked as an Early Intervention Service Coordinator for several years before deciding to stay home when her children were small.
In 2017, Sarah began her time with JWYC as a Case Aide in the Indiana County program, and currently supports the SWAN program in Indiana and a number of other counties.
Sarah’s favorite memory here: “being able to be a small part of the permanency journey for children, youth and families will always be some of the most memorable moments in my career. I was able to help complete a Family Profile for a single parent who was adopting a teenage girl. During the family preparation process we designed family t-shirts. They wore their t-shirts to her adoption finalization and shared the picture with me.
My hope is for Justice Works to stay the course of providing quality services to children, youth, and families. Being able to advocate for vulnerable groups is important, yet challenging work.”
In Sarah’s opinion, the best thing about working @ Justice Works is the flexibility her position has allowed her. She’s been able to contribute to the families in the SWAN program, while supporting her most important role: being a mom.
Sarah’s hobbies and other interests include hiking, beach glass hunting, baking, belly laughing, and being with family. She loves “the dying art of writing/mailing cards!”
