Recently, Westmoreland County Children’s Bureau Casework Nick Purnell commended our FRS Brandi Petho (to her supervisor Amber Leonard) for her quick thinking and preparation in knowing a mom’s license plate number which resulted in successfully intervening in a suicide attempt.

I wanted to thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate that and you’re right, unfortunately we don’t hear that enough in our line of work. However, the real star here is Brandi!!
Brandi takes the time to listen to each member of the family to understand the family dynamic in the household. With this understanding, Brandi is able to effectively align each parent and child with the necessary resources that are needed. In this particular circumstance, Brandi’s quick thinking saved a life! Because of her actions four children still have their mother today!
