The identified family’s home, in Hellertown, was infested with bed bugs and was a complete mess inside upon first arrival to their home. The odor was unbearable, the home was unsanitary and without hot water or heat. Also, the youngest daughter was 8 months pregnant. There was an immediate need to clean the home, remove all major items and clothing, and prep it in order for the exterminators to disinfect the home. Initially, the two older daughters were reluctant to help clean and prep the home, but when they noticed that I was assisting their mother and that there was a sense of urgency, they began helping.

Within a two week timeframe the home was clean and ready for the exterminator. The daughter gave birth to her baby a week earlier than anticipated and there were complications with the child at the hospital; however the family and I stayed on task; had the exterminator disinfect the home and had the gas turned back on. The newborn came home to a clean, uninfected house that was warm and had hot water. We were also able to provide the family with two recliners for their living room and bedding for the parents.
