Caren E. Stewart earned her Bachelor’s degree from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. Shortly afterwards, she completed a Masters degree in counseling at Webster University in Myrtle Beach South Carolina. She completed all of her coursework for her Ph.D. from Capella University, St. Louis, MO and will resume her dissertation, September 2017. Caren is a Licensed professional Counselor Supervisor in North Carolina and just completed her final hours to become a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the states of South Carolina and Georgia. Caren has a wide variety of experience working with all populations in mental health, substance abuse and Christian Counseling.
Prior to joining Justice Works, Caren worked as the ACT Team Director for True Behavioral Health Care (TBH) of NC for 5 plus years. During her tenure with TBH, Caren was the key leader for many outstanding program accomplishments. One of which, was to successfully make TBH a leading ACT Team in NC, to adapt and comply with federal court rulings for all ACT Teams to be compliant with the new best practice. TBH became the lead and was recognized with very high fidelity scores of compliance by the state of North Carolina.
Caren has extensive knowledge as a clinical leader and operated a private practice in North and South Carolina. She is well versed in individual, family and group therapies. She approaches her work with clients from a strength base and person centered model utilizing a variety of clinical methods including, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Caren takes on tasks with enthusiasm and has a passion for people. Her goals are to help the community by enriching the lives of the people we serve, helping them to develop a life worth living.
