Nurturing Parenting Program

Home » Services » Research-Informed Practices » Nurturing Parenting Program

The Nurturing Parenting Program (NP), developed by Stephen Bevolek, PhD is a family-centered trauma and research-informed program designed to build nurturing parenting skills as an alternative to abusive and neglectful parenting and child-rearing practices.

The long term goals of the program are to prevent recidivism in families receiving social services and stop the intergenerational cycle of child abuse by teaching positive parenting behaviors.

At JusticeWorks YouthCare we have been providing NP in several counties with documented success.  Routine outcome studies have demonstrated that families are learning needed skills and are reducing their risk for child abuse and maltreatment.

The Nurturing Parenting Program is:

  • Curriculum based
  • Family Centered
  • Targets families at risk for abuse and neglect with children birth to 18 years
  • Can be completed in individual or group settings
