In late 2010 and early 2011, senior management of JusticeWorks YouthCare met with child-serving agencies in several South Carolina counties.  It was widely felt that JWYC’s proactive, outcome-based services were needed in the State.

Working with Richard Christian, M.Ed., a well-regarded clinical director of a South Carolina public school system, we facilitated the creation of JusticeWorks BehavioralCare (JWBC), a non-profit organization with a goal to be a premier behavioral health provider for families and youth in South Carolina.  JusticeWorks BehavioralCare is a ‘sister’ organization to JusticeWorks YouthCare of Pennsylvania which serves as its management company.  We began operations in late Spring, 2011.

JWBC, headquartered in Conway, South Carolina, is a Qualified Medicaid Provider which has demonstrated that its proactive approach can ameliorate severe problems for multi-challenged families.  Our focus is to keep families intact, build on their strengths, and support safety, permanence and well-being of all children.  Most of our services are delivered in client’s homes

Since inception, JWBC has expanded to serve 9 counties in the southeastern part of the state and we are actively exploring continued expansion opportunities.

JWBC offers a full range of behavioral health services to children and families working with South Carolina Departments of Social Services, Juvenile Justice, Education and Mental Health.  We are providing services to a local charter school and assisting in keeping students on-task and enhancing their anger management and other skills to succeed at school.

We can assist school districts in designing and implementing school based mental health services and can provide an integrated clinical services & billing software system.

In the summer of 2012, our Executive Director participated in the Original Six Foundation community conference sponsored by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.  The Governor applauded JWBC’s efforts to “build better futures for families and communities”.

JusticeWorks’ BehavioralCare is currently working to achieve Accreditation by the Council on Accreditation.  We have incorporated Nurturing Parenting, an evidence-based practice, into our services.  We have completed the application process with the Department of health and Human Services to develop a behavioral health group clinic practice to work with individuals through their insurance or managed care organizations.
