JusticeWorks YouthCare has provided innovative solutions for Juvenile Courts and Child Welfare Agencies since 1999. We always want to be open to adding techniques, services and new modalities to support our mission to do whatever it takes to build better futures for youth, families and communities.
Towards those goals, we are excited to have initiated the JusticeWorks YouthCare Alternative Education Division. JusticeWorks’ Alternative Education Division will work with youth who are:
- At risk of dropping out of school or have already done so;
- Experiencing behavioral or emotional difficulties and/or specific learning disabilities in their home school;
- Expelled or suspended from school;
- In need of family counseling and support;
- Returning to the community from residential treatment or placement;
- Habitually truant and/or exhibit defiant behavior;
- In conflict with school officials;
- Persistent violation of school policies and rules.
JusticeWorks Alternative Education Credo.
We believe that all students have dignity, worth and the ability to learn. Our programs are specifically designed to meet the needs of the student, school district, family, and the community. We work with students experiencing challenges or difficulties in the traditional school setting.
We implement an approach that helps students make substantial gains educationally, emotionally and socially. Our alternative education programs utilize a multi-faceted approach that offers education, counseling, and other support services. Our holistic approach (social, emotional, academic, physical safety and remedial support) meets the needs of regular education students and the special needs of specific student populations.
We implement behavioral management methods which make our Educational Environments safe, supportive, task and goal oriented. We recognize that for many of our students school has been a negative experience and they’ve come to view themselves as “unteachable.”
Our goal is to help every child see themselves as capable of learning, value learning and become life-long learners. Our Alternative Education Programs are outcomes driven and we track attendance, behavioral incidents, grades, grade improvements, drop-out and graduation rates.
We understand that long-term success for students with a variety of personal and familial concerns depends on their viewing themselves as good citizens and possessing the skills and attitudes to succeed in the world of work. Our programs explicitly support students developing positive roles in the greater community and obtaining job readiness skills.
JusticeWorks’ Educational Programs operate fully within the context and requirements of the ‘No Child Left Behind’ legislation.
Educational Models.
JusticeWorks’ Alternative Education Division is open to public sector partners to implement a variety of school models. We can operate existing schools under contract; develop specialty schools within a district; operate charter schools, offer after-school educational support and enhancement programs; or provide ‘school-within-school’ classrooms. Specific categories of school service include:
- Credit recovery
- Early age intervention
- Family group dynamics and support
- Conflict Resolution
- Positive behavior Intervention Strategies (PBIS)
